In the present study, we have used PCP and amphetamine in the paired click paradigm in conscious rats i) to model disturbances in the AEP waveform components observed in schizophrenia and ii) to evaluate the degree to which the mGluR2 agonist LY404039 [48] and the PDE10 inhibitor PQ-10 [51] could improve PCP and amphetamine-induced auditory processing deficits as was observed with atypical antipsychotics risperidone and olanzapine, respectively. This evidence concerns the gene GRM2 and schizophrenia.
