While these studies are still in their infancy, Thomas Grünewald summarized his recently completed study on the functional analysis of the chromosome 10 encoded Ewing sarcoma susceptibility locus, which he demonstrated to affect expression of the Ewing sarcoma growth regulatory EGR2 gene through extension of an EWS-FLI1 bound enhancer-like GGAA microsatellite [27]. The gene discussed is EWSR1; the disease is Ewing sarcoma.
