Stepwise linear regression analysis revealed that anti-TPO antibody titers and CD4 cell count at the time of initial diagnosis of HIV infection were the 2 best predictors of occurrence of subclinical hypothyroidism, at baseline (Model-1), after adjusting for age and duration of HIV infection (Model-2), and after adjusting for variables in Model-2 plus weight and history of opportunistic fungal and viral infections (Model-3) (Table 4). Here, CD4 is linked to viral infectious disease.
