Other potential novel targets of the E6 PBM include α and β syntrophins, SNTA1 and SNTB1, whose functions include regulating the activity of the GTPase RAC during tight junction assembly, and sorting nexin 27 (SNX27), important in endosomal recycling pathways [48], but whether these are genuine targets of E6, and the function of these interactions in the HPV life cycle and in HPV driven cancers requires further investigation. This evidence concerns the gene SNX27 and cancer.
