PML upregulates NFATc1, NFATc3, and NFATc4 as its knockdown reduced the level of expression of all NFAT proteins and c-Myc, suggesting that PML may promote cell growth in colon cancer cells, a notion different than the previous findings in the leukemia and myeloma cells in which PML functions as a tumor suppressor gene and cooperates with p537, 8, 9, 10. This evidence concerns the gene NFATC3 and malignant colon neoplasm.
