CD8A and neuromuscular disease caused by qualitative or quantitative defects of dysferlin: The interpretation that CD8+ T-cells play a deleterious roll in muscle by promoting muscle fiber damage is supported by the observation that depletion of these cells significantly reduced pathologic symptoms in murine models of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Spencer et al., 2001) and dysferlinopathy (Farini et al., 2012).
