As to the effects of celastrol on inflammatory mediators in serum and colon tissues, we found that celastrol obviously decreased the overproduction of serum TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6, down-regulated the overexpression of COX-2 and iNOS proteins, and inhibited the activation and nuclear translocation of NF-κB in UC-CRC mice. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
