Recently, activation of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene in lung cancer by fusion to echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4 (EML4) or other gene partners (such as BIRC6 [3], TFG [4], KIF5B [5] and KLC1 [6]) has been identified as oncogenic events [7]. This evidence concerns the gene ALK and lung cancer.
