In AD, various neurotrophic factors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2), neurotrophic factor-α1 (NF-α1), and activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) have been studied as potential therapeutic targets for treating the malicious disease [17–20], yet there are no successful drugs developed based on these trophic factors. The gene discussed is BDNF; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
