Over the last decade there have been important advances in understanding the biology of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), identifying oncogene-driven subtypes of tumors such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations or anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) and ROS proto-oncogene 1 (ROS1) rearrangements [1-3].
