Notably, polymorphisms in the human Snap25 gene have been associated with weight gain after antipsychotic treatment and with altered levels of serum triglycerides [11, 12] and, importantly, with the severity of metabolic syndrome in T2DM [13] These data, finally, confirm previous results showing a role of Snap25 in insulin secretion [2–6]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and metabolic syndrome.
