Small molecules that inhibit the action of certain epigenetic proteins in cancer have met success to cure cancer, for example, recently FDA approved the use of vorinostat and romidepsin (HDAC inhibitors); azacitidine and decitabine (DNMT inhibitors) for treatment of cutaneous T cell lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndrome7, 8, 9. This evidence concerns the gene DNMT1 and cancer.
