CRP and uremia: Levels of plasma CRP are elevated in 30% to 50% of uremia patients,32 which may result from uremic toxins, a bioincompatible hemodialyzer, acidosis, or other causes.32 Recently, we have reported that L5 induces the expression of CRP in serum,14 but the cause–effect relationship between L5 and CRP requires longitudinal investigation.
