Although not investigated in a context of obesity, a previous study demonstrated that the homing of ovarian cancer cells to the omentum (a large fat pad that extends from the stomach and covers the bowel and the most frequent intra-peritoneal localization of metastatic ovarian cancer) might predominantly involve a CXCR1/CXCL8 axis, at least in vitro and in murine models46. The gene discussed is CXCL8; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
