Interestingly, NHERF4 is a known regulator of the Ca2+ channel TRPV6 [32] that mediates the entry of dietary Ca2+ from the intestinal lumen into the enterocyte in the course of transepithelial transcellular Ca2+ absorption (reviewed in [44]), which is nicely in line with the absorptive hypercalciuria we report. The gene discussed is NHERF4; the disease is Hypercalciuria.
