To this point, although an effect on IL-17 producing γδ T cell number was measured in streptomycin treated Cftrtm1UNC mice, we did not detect an effect on expression of interleukin-17, at the level of the whole lung, in these mice compared to controls, and therefore further testing will be required to determine whether streptomycin affects airway hyperresponsiveness in this model via modulation of IL-17 producing γδ T cells. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is airway hyperresponsiveness.
