GLS1 has been reported to promote tumorigenesis in different types of cancer, including HCC, which is mainly attributable to its glutaminase activity and role in promoting glutamine metabolism (Gao et al., 2009; Thangavelu et al., 2012; Wang et al., 2010; Xiang et al., 2015). The gene discussed is GLS; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
