Oligodendrocytes are among target cells for inclusions of ALS-linked proteins such as phosphorylated TDP-43 and FUS, and recently has attracted much attention since they play important roles in ALS pathogenesis, for instance, by the dysfunction of monocarboxylate transporter 1 (MCT1)18, 19, 20. This evidence concerns the gene TARDBP and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
