ATP7A and disorder of copper metabolism: In order to develop new treatment strategies for copper-metabolism disorders, several rodent models were investigated, including natural models, such as the mottled mouse (Grimes et al., 1997), the toxic milk mouse (Theophilos et al., 1996) and the Long–Evans cinnamon rat (Li et al., 1991), in addition to ATP7A (Wang et al., 2012) and ATP7B knockouts (Buiakova et al., 1999).
