TOPK overexpression was detected in more than 60% of patients with lung cancer and correlates with poor disease-free survival [16]; TOPK also confers resistance of neoplastic cells to drug-induced apoptosis, suggesting that TOPK plays an important role in the occurrence and progression of cancers, probably by phosphorylating a wide range of substrate proteins [17, 18]. This evidence concerns the gene PBK and lung cancer.
