Great attention has been paid to CC chemokines in the pathogenesis of liver fibrosis, and experiments using mice deficient in their receptors (CCR1, CCR2 or CCR5) have clearly shown the direct contribution of CC chemokines to hepatic fibrogenesis induced by carbon tetrachloride administration or bile duct ligation [22, 23].
