This evidence is consistent with the predominant localization of endogenous GLI1 in the nucleus of normal duct epithelium in contrast to the cytoplasmic distribution or both the nucleus and cytoplasm distribution of GLI1 in invasive ductal carcinoma of no special type (IDC) cells as shown below (see Figure 6A for immunohistochemical staining). Here, GLI1 is linked to invasive ductal breast carcinoma.
