Data analysis demonstrated that although HCV patients with severe fibrosis (F3-4) presented low frequency of intrahepatic CD4+, CD8+ T-cells (Fig. 3a), they present higher tissue levels of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF and IFN-γ) along with low frequency of Tregs as compared to patients with mild liver fibrosis (F1-2) (Fig. 3a and b). Here, TNF is linked to Hepatic fibrosis.
