Because neither Itgβ1 nor FAK are predicted miR-200 family targets and neither correlated with the EMT status of the cells, we analyzed the pan-cancer TCGA datasets34 and a separate compendium of publically-available lung cancer datasets25 for genes with negative correlation to miR-200 family expression, high correlation to ZEB1, and predicted miR200b sites in the 3′ UTR by three different prediction algorithms (Fig. 4a and Supplemental Table 2). The gene discussed is ZEB1; the disease is lung carcinoma.
