VEGFA and Ascites: The current finding is also consistent with several other, both preclinical and clinical studies on PM arising from several epithelial malignancies such as ovarian carcinoma in which VEGF has been shown to play a role in PM and prognosis.35,39–47 Several studies have assessed the effect of blocking VEGF both on ascites formation and PM formation and progression.39,41,43,44,46–49 All these studies show that blocking VEGF diminishes both ascites and PM and thus improves survival after surgical treatment.
