Interestingly, when the MetS mice were injected with streptozotocin that resulted in a 3-fold decrease of insulin levels (from 6.1 ± 1.1 μg/L to 1.8 ± 0.1 μg/L), lipid-dependent CD36 degradation (Fig 8A), and postprandial induction of MTP, L-FABP and ApoC2 mRNA levels (Fig 8B) were restored. This evidence concerns the gene CD36 and metabolic syndrome.
