Indeed, more that 50 % of hepatoblastoma (HB) and a third of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) display aberrant activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling caused by stabilizing mutations of β-catenin in the CTNNB1 gene [4, 6], while mutations in APC, which lead to the ectopic activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling, are considered the major initiating event in colorectal cancer (CRC) [5, 7]. The gene discussed is CTNNB1; the disease is hepatoblastoma.
