The results of this study show that the addition of red guava to diets can improve hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and kidney metabolic abnormities in STZ-induced diabetic mice, and can reduce the expression of the inflammatory proteins iNOS and NF-κB via the activation of PPARγ, resulting in improved inflammatory responses caused by diabetes. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and hyperinsulinism.
