Although NETO2 was initially believed to be a brain-specific protein [9, 11], a recent study conducted by Oparina et al. revealed that NETO2 mRNA expression was also detectable in a variety of normal non-neural tissues and upregulated in several types of cancers including renal, lung, colon and cervical carcinomas [16]. This evidence concerns the gene NETO2 and cervical carcinoma.
