An important effect of recognition of LPS by TLR4 is the activation of NF-κB, resulting in the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines [220], such as TNF-α, which in turn leads to the development of hepatic steatosis [219,221], by modulating sterol regulatory element-binding proteins, (SREBP), being the SREBP-1c the main form expressed in the liver. The gene discussed is SREBF1; the disease is fatty liver disease.
