DRD2 and schizophrenia: A number of basic studies have demonstrated that a blockade of DRD2 by antipsychotics, typical and atypical, leads to a compensatory increase in DRD2 densities [34,35,36,37,38,39], and this phenomenon is presumed to be, at least partly, related to the development of the DA supersensitivity clinically observed as DSP in patients with schizophrenia.
