The LDL-decreasing PCSK9 R93C (OR=0.48, P=3.8 × 10−7) and APOB R532W (OR=0.85, P=2.9 × 10−4) significantly protected against CAD, whereas the risk for CAD was 3.66 times higher for subjects carrying the LDL-increasing LDLR R257W allele (P=1.1 × 10−4). The gene discussed is PCSK9; the disease is coronary artery disorder.
