DICER1 and neoplasm: DGCR8 is a double-stranded RNA-binding protein that functions as the noncatalytic subunit of the microprocessor complex and facilitates RNA cleavage by the RNase III protein DROSHA. In vitro knockdown of DROSHA, DGCR8, and DICER1 impaired miRNA processing and thereby promoted oncogenic transformation in mouse lung cancer cells and tumor development in vivo [42].
