The four top SNPs associated with inguinal hernia were also the most strongly associated SNPs with indirect inguinal hernia, but for three of the four loci, other SNPs in the region were more strongly associated with direct inguinal hernia, specifically rs11899888 (instead of rs2009262) in EFEMP1, rs12520760 (instead of rs370763) in ADAMTS6 and rs10746560 (instead of rs6991952) in EBF2 (Supplementary Fig. 2). This evidence concerns the gene EBF2 and Inguinal hernia.
