Also consistent with our findings are the observations that the ETS transcription factors ETV1 and ETV5 are upregulated in sarcomas that express CIC-DUX, an oncogenic fusion protein that functions as a transcriptional activator [31], and that knockdown of CIC induces the transcription of ETV1, ETV4 and ETV5 in melanoma cells [29].
