Among the 12 genes which contributed much to the association of the CAMs pathway and were nominally associated schizophrenia (gene p-value<0.01), we focused on the NLGN1 gene, because it was previously identified to be associated with other psychiatric disorders, including autism and bipolar disorder [31, 32] and it was involved in many important brain functions such as synaptic plasticity and long-term memory [28–30]. The gene discussed is NLGN1; the disease is schizophrenia.
