MICA and toxoplasmosis: Although the importance of NK cells and CD8+ T lymphocytes to the immune response of individuals infected by T. gondii [35,36] and the role of MICA alleles in the activation of these cells has been established [8,9], to the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that addresses the role of MICA alleles and the MICA-129 polymorphism (rs1051792) in the immunopathogenesis of toxoplasmosis.
