PPARA and glaucoma: These new insights prompted us to explore and review the putative role of palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α) ligand that exerts anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neuroprotective actions [5], for the treatment of (neuro)inflammation, especially related to glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
