BDNF and post-traumatic stress disorder: We hypothesized that increased methylation of the BDNF gene promoter region would be associated with the following: 1) maternal IPV-PTSD and more generalized anxiety in the context of childhood exposure to IPV, and 2) neural activity of brain regions subserving emotional processing when mothers watched their own and unfamiliar toddlers during a stressful condition (i.e. separation) compared to a non-stressful condition (i.e. free-play).
