Spearman correlations for behavioral data showed that the degree of methylation of exon IV of the BDNF gene promoter region as averaged across 4 CpG sites (i.e. mean overall percentage of gene methylation) was positively and significantly correlated with the severity of maternal anxiety (n = 54, rs = .421, p = .002) on the SCL-90. The gene discussed is BDNF; the disease is Anxiety.
