In previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS), we and others have shown that inherited single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the telomere-related genes TERC, TERT and RTEL1 are associated with increased glioma risk [1-3], suggesting that telomere biology may have a role in gliomagenesis [4]. The gene discussed is RTEL1; the disease is glioma.
