The existence of such a species is supported by evidence of PrPSc and proteasome colocalisation in perinuclear aggresomes in prion-infected neuroblastoma cells [25] and co-immunoprecipitation of PrPSc with vimentin [25] and subunits of the 26S proteasome [7] in prion-infected mouse brains.
