In peripheral LNs (additional peripheral LNs were recovered at day 7 to analyze earlier T and B cell dynamics), the percentage of CD3+CD4+ T cells decreased whereas the percentage of CD3+CD8+ T cells significantly increased at day 30 post-infection (CD3+CD4+ T cells, day 30, 39.76% ± 7.23%; day 0, 54.31% ± 5.95%; p = 0.0003 and CD3+CD8+ T cells, day 30, 38.9%± 6.93%; day 0, 30.20% ± 4.78%; p = 0.0141) (Fig 1A, middle panel).
