Conventionally, Th1 response is associated with TLR4 signaling resulting in secretion of IFNγ and TNFα (for protection against fungal pathogen), while Th2 response is associated with TLR2 signaling resulting in the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL4 and IL10) to regulate the inflammatory response (which unfortunately leads to more susceptibility against fungal infection). The gene discussed is IL10; the disease is fungal infectious disease.
