Indeed, we have recently demonstrated in endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) deficient (eNOS-/-) mice, that loss of endothelial nitric oxide (NO) leads to AD-related changes in amyloid precursor protein (APP) and beta-amyloid (Aβ) levels in brain tissue, including the hippocampus [11]. The gene discussed is APP; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
