Taken together, the alterations in Fe ions and ROS in cancer cells with suppressed NAF-1 expression appear to resemble the alterations in Fe ions and ROS that are induced by the disruption of Fe-S biogenesis in conditions such as Friedreich's ataxia and in some forms of sideroblastic anemia (Napier et al., 2005; Wilson, 2006). This evidence concerns the gene NAF1 and cancer.
