Consistent with our findings that high levels of PI(4,5)P2 decrease the migratory capacity of cancer cells and reduce lung metastasis, breast cancer patients whose tumors expressed high levels of the three isoforms of PIP5K (PIP5K1A, PIP5K1B, and PIP5K1C) experienced increased distal metastasis‐free survival compared to patients whose tumors expressed low levels of PIP5K isoforms (Fig 4E) (Gyorffy et al, 2010). The gene discussed is PIP5K1A; the disease is breast cancer.
