Pertinent fluid analyses revealed glucose 100 mg/dL, amylase 52 U/L, WBC 372/UL with 48% polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs) and 24% lymphocytes, total protein 4.2 g/dL, and albumin 2.1 g/dL giving a serum albumin ascites gradient of 1.5, consistent with portal hypertension or congestive heart failure. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and liver disorder.
