One of the hallmarks of EMT is the functional loss of E-cadherin, which is thought to be a metastatic suppressor during tumor progression.27 As a key transcriptional repressor of E-cadherin expression in EMT, Snail has an important role in cancer progression.28 Previous studies reported that overexpression of Snail is associated with lymph node metastasis and Snail is an independent prognostic predictor for progression and patient survival of GC.29, 30. This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and metastatic malignant neoplasm in the lymph nodes.
