Figure 1 shows that SIRT 1 was underexpressed in MetS rats and that the treatment with both doses of RSV + QRC restored SIRT 1 expression. Our data are in accordance with several animal studies that have provided strong evidence on the positive effect of RSV and QRC upregulating SIRT 1 in different models. SIRT 1 is an important regulator of hepatic glucose metabolism; it improves insulin signaling and promotes fatty acid metabolism [32, 33]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and metabolic syndrome.
