Since CD147 is known to participate in inflammation, ischemic injury, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and tissue repair [18,55], it is no surprise that it is regulated by various inflammatory mediators, such as tumour necrosis factor α (TNF-α) [119], interleukins [120], receptor activator of nuclear factor κ-light chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κβ) ligand (RANKL) [121,122] and prostaglandins [123].
